This week, our Year 5 pupils embarked on an unforgettable journey to the National Space Centre in Leicester. The highlight of the day was the awe-inspiring Planetarium experience, where the class were immersed in a fantastic full-dome 360-degree show. They were captivated by Astronaut, an animated film that
gave a thrilling insight into what it’s really like to travel into space.

Pupils also took part in the Life in Space Workshop, which explored what it takes to live and work aboard the International Space Station. From astronaut selection and mission training to the challenges of eating, sleeping, and even going to the toilet in microgravity - the class were fascinated by the differences between life on Earth and in space. Through hands-on tasks, they examined the hazards astronauts face and learned how specially designed space suits keep them safe during spacewalks.

Throughout the day, the children also had the chance to explore the many interactive exhibits across the centre. From launching rockets to controlling space rovers and learning about the history of space exploration, there was no shortage of exciting, hands-on learning opportunities.

The trip sparked wonder, curiosity, and many questions—truly a day that was out of this world!
