We are incredibly proud to share that Harbury CE Primary School has officially become an ICONS School.
ICONS is part of the work of the International Cross of Nails Schools Network, which grew from the reconciliation work of Coventry Cathedral following the devastation of the Second World War. After Coventry Cathedral was destroyed during the Blitz in 1940, a powerful message of forgiveness, reconciliation and peace emerged. Today, schools across the country continue this important work through the ICONS programme.
As an ICONS School, we are committed to three key themes:
- Healing the wounds of history
- Living with difference and celebrating diversity
- Building a culture of justice and peace
These themes fit perfectly with our Christian vision of Love in Action and support the values we encourage every day at Harbury.
Through our curriculum, collective worship and daily interactions, we will continue to help our children develop respect, empathy and understanding. We want our pupils to recognise that differences should be celebrated, conflicts can be resolved positively, and everyone has the power to make a difference in their community.
Schools are not simply places where children learn academic subjects; they are places where children learn how to live well alongside one another. Becoming an ICONS School strengthens our commitment to ensuring that peace, reconciliation and compassion are not just taught but are lived out every day.
We look forward to sharing more of our ICONS journey with you throughout the coming year.
