A group of our Y6 pupils represented the school brilliantly at the Indoor Rowing Competition held at Newbold Leisure Centre, on Thursday 6 November. This was the first time our school has ever taken part in this event, and the atmosphere was electric from start to finish!
Each competitor took part in a 90-second individual row before teaming up for a fast-paced relay event. We’re thrilled to share that Ava and Elodie both came first in their individual races, and our boys’ team finished an impressive second overall — out of nine schools competing!
Their enthusiasm, teamwork, and determination were fantastic to see, and everyone gave their all right to the finish line. A huge thank-you to Mrs Hughes for kindly lending us a rowing machine to practise with, and to Mrs Scale for leading the sessions and supporting the team. We also really appreciate our wonderful parent volunteers for helping with transport.
What really stood out throughout both events was the children’s behaviour and sportsmanship. They were incredibly supportive of each other, showing true teamwork and embodying our school values. They were also the only school to approach the coaches at the end of each event to personally say thank you, which made Miss Riman very proud.
Well done to all involved — what a brilliant debut performance!
