Music & Singing

&nb

At Harbury, we have a strong singing and musical culture, maintained by singing assemblies and a large choir. Every week, we learn new songs and get ready for performances. We love to sing with our friends, and learn to be confident in performance. Most years we take part in the Young Voices concerts in Birmingham, which is a memorable and inspiring experience for both children and adults. The choir has also has strong links with the local community by singing at Galanos House at Christmas, which is a local care home in Southam. The children also perform at the Harbury carnival in the summer.

We are also very proud of our musically talented pupils. Many children take part in peripatetic lessons, including steel pan, strings, ukulele, guitar and piano. We have a dedicated team of music teachers, including our specialist music teacher Mr Hudson. Sometimes classes might take part in special music projects.  At the moment, the whole of Year 3 learn to play the trombone which is kindly supported by the Napton Music Festival. We employ Mr Stoneman from Warwickshire Music Services to provide this opportunity.

The whole school enjoys coming together to celebrate musical achievements in many different concerts throughout the school calendar, including the Summer Concert at the end of the year. This is always a very popular event.
