Year 3

Welcome to Year 3

This term our topic is

Who can be an Eco-Warrior?

Throughout the spring term, we are going to be eco-warriors! This topic looks at how we can care for the environment and challenges children to think about the impact they can have on their future. Through our class text Gretta and the Giants, we will explore narrative, non-fiction and poetry and in our geography lessons we will be finding out about different climate zones and the greenhouse effect before completing a local environmental study.

In maths, we will be developing our understanding of multiplication and division, then focusing on fractions. We be continuing our quick recall sessions to constantly revise the key principles that are fundamental to success in this subject.

3D modelling with clay and recycled materials will be our focus in art and in music we will continue to learn the trombone with Mr Stoneman.  In science. the class will learn about the functions of different parts of a plant and investigate conditions for growth.  We will be playing team games such as basketball in PE lessons as well as developing our gymnastic skills.  In RE, we will be asking 'Why do Christians call the day Jesus died Good Friday?' and our values this term are collaboration, hope, forgiveness and perseverance.
