Reception Class

Welcome to Reception

This term our topic is

Superheroes to the Rescue!

After a fabulous term exploring all things transport, reception couldn't imagine their learning could become even more exciting until they came into school to discover a fabulous Superhero Headquarters had landed in our classroom! They quickly realised that this term their learning was going to be ‘out of this world’.

After listening carefully to various space themed stories, the children were able to blast off into space in their very own reception ‘space rocket’. As they explored their new reception role play area the children imagined what it would be like to be a Superhero!

To kick start our ‘Superhero’ topic the children will be listening to a variety of exciting stories such as Super Daisy and the Peril of Planet Pea and ‘Supertato’. There may even be a visit from the notorious villain.... ‘Evil Pea!’. The children will be developing their reading and writing skills by reading clues, writing messages and even filing a police report to help save the day! Reception to the Rescue once again.

In addition to our storybook superheroes, the children will be learning all about our very important ‘every day heroes’. The children will have the opportunity to ask questions in order to discover facts about all of the important people who help us, such as fire fighters, nurses and police officers and all the hard work they do to keep us safe.  We may even have a visit from some amazing guide dogs for the blind too!

In Re, the children will discover why there is a cross in an Easter garden. As the children continue to display the values they have been taught so far, they will also explore our new values which are Perseverance and Forgiveness.
