PTA

Who are we?

We are a small team of parents currently made up of a committee of four, Lindsey Stevens (Chair), Sarah Jackson (Vice Chair) Alice Mellings (Secretary) and Alice Lenton (Treasurer)

We link closely with the school, liaising with our headteacher Mrs Bosley and teacher link Mrs Rea.

We also have a host of regular volunteers who support our fundraising events programme throughout the year, helping at events & promoting our activities through our class WhatsApp groups.

What do we do?

We are an amazing team who work well together, raising £15,000 in the academic year 2022-2023. This was raised through a variety of events such as Christmas pudding sales; ever popular Christmas wreath making; supporting seasonal school events with raffles and drinks provision; school disco; sponsored walk; cake sale at Harbury Carnival; and Mothers and Father’s Day Boutiques.

We also worked hard to secure local grants from Harbury Parish Council and The Harbury WI.

As well as this, the PTA is proud to operate a PTA lottery exclusive to the school with monthly draws plus a summer 2023 rollover that had an amazing top prize of £200!!!!

We meet in person approximately 4-6 times a year to evaluate previous events and plan forthcoming ones. In between meetings, communications take place through WhatsApp groups. Please look at our latest minutes in the attached document below for up-to-date PTA plans.

Our PTA is very much at the heart of our lovely school community. The children, head teacher, teachers, staff, and governors are all complimentary about our activities and the role we play in supporting the school community & are our biggest supporters.

How is the money spent?

We work closely with school staff to establish schools’ priorities and funding gaps. Money is usually spent on things the school budget cannot cover. In the past year, the PTA has donated money towards many different resources these include Coach Travel, School Trips, iPads – keeping technology up to date, KS1 Books for an entire new reading scheme, Workshops, Theatre Groups & Music Days along with Christmas Panto, WOW Days for each year group including Punch & Judy!

As well as much smaller but no less important items, like maths equipment, PA systems for events like Sports Day, soft furnishings for communal areas.

Why should I join?

There are many reasons to join our team. From raising much needed funds, making a difference to the school environment, to making new friends and getting to know how the school works. It also feels good to know you are making a difference for your children and to give back a little.

What is expected from me?

There is no expectation from you as a parent volunteer, we make it clear you can be involved as much or as little as you like. Any amount time you can offer will always be well received by the PTA team. There are a variety of ways you can become actively involved from attending meetings, volunteering at, or coordinating events. Donating raffles prizes and suggesting innovative fundraising ideas are other ways to become involved. Joining up to the lottery or donating money is also a simple but great way to support the PTA without becoming actively involved.

How to join us?
