To love, learn and grow together
This Autumn Term, Year 6 are starting a topic called
We will be investigating where chocolate comes from and how it is produced, where the Mayans lived, why they chose to settle where they did and why they valued the cocoa bean as much as they did.
In maths, we will focus on place value, arithemetic methods and fractions.
In RE, we are focusing on the key question: Is it better to express your beliefs in arts and architecture or in charity and generosity?
As part of our learning in DT, we will be designing a chocolate wrapper using online tools to create a net. In Art, we will explore Mayan patterns and uses these to create our own designs, experimenting with media (oil pastels, watercolours, metallic crayons, etc) and finally using printing in our final designs.
Our computing topic this term is centred on online safety as well as using and understanding spreadsheets. In Science, we are learning about living things and their natural habitats. In PE, we will focus on fitness, developing children's core strength and stamina and also practising skills in netball.
