To love, learn and grow together
Our new topic this half term is all about life Down Under! We have kick started this exciting topic by locating Australia and creating our own world maps on balloons, focusing on the continents and equator.
As well as this, we have begun to learn about world time zones and have created our own clocks so we can see who is asleep when we are awake.
We are using the books, 'Diary of a Wombat' and 'Fluffles' as inspiration for our writing, and have also begun to look at a variety of aboriginal dream stories such as, How the Kangaroos got their Tails.
As this topic progresses, we will also begin to learn about Captain Cook's expedition on his famous ship, the HMB Endeavour, as well as learning about the lives of British convicts sent to Austalia in the late 1700s. We will even carry out our own hearing in the classroom to accompany this.
