To love, learn and grow together
Our fabulous reception children have started their term by displaying perseverance and determination in their learning. They have thoroughly immersed themselves in our new topic ’What’s inside the Toy Box?’, whether they have been learning at home or in school. Through our ‘Toy’ theme we have compared old and new toys, explored our role play toy shop and are looking forward to investigating how moving toys work.
In reception, we love to use books and stories to inspire our learning. As part of our Literacy the children have had the opportunity to sequence key events, retell stories and discover adjectives through exciting texts such as ‘Betty and the Yeti’ and ‘Goldilocks and the 3 bears’. In our phonics we have progressed onto learning our set 2 sounds through daily RWI lessons, we are also developing our blending and segmenting skills whilst learning new ‘red words’. This half term we will continue to build on our fine motor skills, as well as developing our letter formation. As part of our mathematical development, we will continue with our number recognition up to and beyond 10, representing numbers in different ways using a variety of resources.
